Senators Get Two Wins On Homecoming

The West Washington Senators got two wins Friday night over the visiting North Harrison Cougars in front of a large Homecoming crowd.  The Junior Varsity began the winning with a come from behind win, 36-26.  Lane Hoover led the JV Senators in scoring with 13 points and a great second half.

The winning continued between games for one Senator player.  Sterling Springer was crowned Homecoming King and Heartthrob.  Shelby Smith rounded out the Homecoming Court being named 2011 West Washington Homecoming Queen.

The Senator Varsity survived a second half scare, surrendering a 17-point margin, only to regain the lead in the waning minutes.  The Senators struggled to shake off the rust from a long, snow-induced layoff with poor shooting from the field and free throw line.  Stellar Senator defense continued, however, to hold off the Cougars and earn the varsity's 10th win of the year with a 43-42 victory.  This win improves the Senator's season mark to 10-4 and lifts them to 6th in the state in Defensive Average, allowing 40.79 points per game.  West Washington was led in scoring by Center, Clayton Sullivan, with 14 points and Point Guard, Trevor Nice who chipped in 12 points.  Kendal Rosenbaum did an outstanding job defensively on North Harrison standout, Lincoln Jones, holding him to only 9 points for the contest.

West Washington's homestand continues Friday, February 4th, as PLAC opponent Perry Central comes to town.  Perry Central currently has a record of 6-5, with a 1-1 PLAC record after suffering a 68-40 loss to Crawford County Friday night.  The Senators hope to remain unbeaten in conference play. (2-0 PLAC)

Jr. High Senators Run All Over Rams

Thursday night proved to be a successful night for the Jr. High Senators' Boys' Basketball Team, as they walked away with 2 blowout wins over the visiting Paoli Rams.  7th grade boys got the ball rolling with a 42-24 victory.  They were led in the scoring column by Joe Pate and Seth Miller.  This improves the 7th grade record to 6-7.  The 7th grade boys will be back in action Saturday night at home in the Midwest Youth Tournament at 6:30 p.m.

The 8th grade boys finished off the successful night with a solid win over the Rams, 40-21.  Cody Maudlin paced the Senators in the scoring column with 11 points.  With last night's win, the 8th grade Senators jump over .500 with a mark of 7-6.  The boys will next see game action Tuesday, February 1st, when Orleans comes to West Washington.

Big Night @ West Washington

It's going to be a big night at West Washington High School tonight as the West Washington Senators take on the North Harrison Cougars.  Tonight's game serves as Senator Homecoming and Coaches Vs. Cancer night in the West Washington Community.  Between the JV and Varsity games, we will crown a new Homecoming King and Queen.  And throughout the evening, the cheerleaders from both West Washington and North Harrison will be passing around donation buckets.  All proceeds will be donated to the local branch of the American Cancer Society.  So, please come out and support your Senators and the cause of funding cancer research.

Senator Bowling Tournament

After practice today, we all jumped in a couple mini buses and headed south to Clarksville.  We had lunch at the Golden Corral, which was fantastic.  A lot of food was consumed.  Next it was on to the bowling alley for the Senator Basketball Bowling Tournament -- the winner gets out of a day of conditioning.  Cody Huff came home the champion with a high score of 174.  The low man on the day was Coach Clark Smith with a 36.
